Set Up Classes

Click Add a Class in the QuickLinks section on the right side of your MasterTrack dashboard. Then name your class and add your students.


TIP: If you support more than one class, you can create multiple classes.

Administer Benchmark Assessment

Teachers begin the school year by administering the Benchmark Assessment to gather baseline data. We recommend administering just a few pages a week to ensure seeing students' best work. Our Benchmark Assessments can be found in the Benchmarks tab on the MasterTrack menu bar. Most students will take their current grade level Benchmark assessment (which, at the beginning of the school year, will assess them on core skills from the previous grade level).


Once you have scored your Benchmarks, you can enter the data by clicking on Enter Benchmark Data in the cycle graphic on your dashboard screen. Most teachers score and enter their Benchmark Data as they administer the assessment.

Generate Class Report + Set Goals

Once your Benchmark data is complete, click on View Class Report in the cycle graphic on your dashboard screen to generate a class report. This report will give you a clear baseline to identify goals to inform your weekly learning groups and acceleration work.


TIP: MasterTrack Coaches can support you in goal setting.

Weekly Learning Groups

Once you have identified priority learning goals, you will want to begin to set up your weekly Learning Groups (Individual Learning Groups or Whole Class Learning Groups) to provide targeted instruction to support student learning needs. MasterTrack will build Learning Groups for you; simply click on Build Groups in the cycle graphic on your dashboard screen to get started. You can always access our resources and coaching support to help you along the way.


TIP: Please feel free to meet with a MasterTrack Coach to chat about best ways to implement and manage Learning Groups each week in your classroom.

Follow-Up Checkpoint Assessments

After working with students on target skills in Learning Groups, you will want to follow up with a Checkpoint Assessment to check for improved understanding. To access our bank of Checkpoint Assessments, click on the Checkpoints tab along your MasterTrack menu bar and select Checkpoint Assessments. Select and administer the appropriate Checkpoint for the skill(s) you worked on.


Once you have administered and scored your weekly Checkpoint(s), click on Add New Checkpoint in the cycle graphic on your dashboard screen to enter your Checkpoint scores. Gaps in Checkpoint Scoresheet are expected and fine.

TIP: Most teachers administer Checkpoints to ALL students (often as a quick entry /exit task) a few days AFTER instruction to ensure ALL students are retaining these foundational skills throughout the year.

Check Growth!

To check student growth, simply click on Growth Report from the Reports Menu. You can generate Student Growth Reports, Class Growth Reports, or School Growth Reports. 


TIP: Schedule a coaching session anytime you may need assistance in building a Growth Report.
