Click Add a Class in the QuickLinks section on the right side of your MasterTrack dashboard. Then select your subject, name your class, and add your students.

TIP: If you support more than one class, you can create multiple classes.

Teachers begin the school year by administering the Benchmark Assessment to every student to gather class/group wide baseline data. We recommend you administer just a few questions a day or a few pages a week to ensure seeing students' best work. Our Benchmark Assessments can be found in the Benchmarks tab on the MasterTrack menu bar. Most students will take their current grade level Benchmark assessment (which, at the beginning of the school year, will assess them on core skills from the previous grade level).

However, you can also choose to administer a Benchmark from a different grade level to select students, if appropriate. To do so, simply select and administer the Benchmark that you feel would be more appropriate for particular students and edit each student's Benchmark level in the Manage Classes drop down menu.

Once you have scored your Benchmarks, you can enter the data by simply clicking on Enter Benchmark Data in the cycle graphic on your dashboard screen. This will take you to your Benchmark Scoresheet where you can simply click and enter your students' scores. Most teachers score and enter their Benchmark Data as they administer the assessment - entering their data a little bit at a time as they gather it.

TIP: Upload Benchmark Assessments into mark-up tools like Seesaw or Google Slides for distance learning.

Once your Benchmark data is complete, click on View Class Report in the cycle graphic on your dashboard screen to generate a class report. This report will give you a clear baseline to identify goals to inform your weekly learning groups and acceleration work.

TIP: Goals are often driven by priority skills that are prerequisite for upcoming grade level instruction.

Once you have identified priority learning goals, you will want to begin to set up your weekly Learning Groups (Individual Learning Groups and Whole Class Learning Groups) to provide targeted instruction to support student learning needs. MasterTrack will build Learning Groups for you; simply click on Build Groups in the cycle graphic on your dashboard screen to get started. You can always access our resources and coaching support to help you along the way.

TIP: Most teachers set aside one day each week for these laser-targeted learning groups and focus on grade level scope and sequence the rest of the week. Please feel free to meet with a MasterTrack Coach to chat about best ways to implement and manage Learning Groups each week in your classroom.

After working with students on target skills in Learning Groups, you will want to follow up with a Checkpoint Assessment to check for improved understanding. To access our bank of Checkpoint Assessments, click on the Checkpoints tab along your MasterTrack menu bar and select Checkpoint Assessments. Select and administer the appropriate Checkpoint for the skill(s) you worked on.

Once you have administered and scored your weekly Checkpoint(s), click on Add New Checkpoint in the cycle graphic on your dashboard screen to enter your Checkpoint scores. This timely data will inform your weekly MasterTrack Learning Groups.

TIP: Most teachers administer Checkpoints to ALL students (often as a quick entry /exit task) a few days AFTER instruction to ensure ALL students are retaining these foundational skills throughout the year.

To check growth, simply click Check Growth in the QuickLinks section on the right side of your MasterTrack dashboard to generate Growth Reports. Here you can generate individual student, class wide, grade level, and school wide Growth Reports. As you meet previous goals you can begin to identify new goal areas to continue to prioritize your learning recovery work as your students' learning needs evolve.
